Ga-gorib

Ga-gorib is another myth from Southern africa, where I am from, it is a KhoiKhoi (the people) aka Bushman myth, about a man-eating troll, who was once outwitted by Heitsi-eibib which is a very cunning character. Ga-gorib is scary and devious, tricking people to throw rocks at him by taunting them, if they do it is sure to bounce of his fat stomach and knock them into the hole for him to eat. I portrayed him as a kind of proto-human like a carnivorous gorilla like creature (we know that gentle vegetarian ones definitely existed at the same time as early man). His name means something like 'the spotted one that is not a leopard'.
